Archie Wolfe, 83, of Morning Sun, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at Morning Sun Care Center. Per Archie''s wishes he was cremated. Services will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Morning Sun with Reverend Sue Ellen Sherman officiating. Survivors include his loving wife, Gerrie; two sons, Tim (Marsha) Wolfe, Sheldon Wolfe; daughter Christie (Kenneth) McElhinney; 3 granddaughters, Kimberly McAlexander, Michelle (Guy) Cook, Cindy (Mike) Christe; 2 grandsons, Mark (Robin) Wolfe and Randy (Leah) McElhinney; 10 great grandchildren; one sister, Harriet Nichols. Archie was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, a sister, and one son, Kim. Archie Junior Wolfe was born on November 20, 1924 in Louisa County to Archie Calvin and Willa (Umphrey) Wolfe. On September 29, 1945, he married Gerrie Deihl in Washington, IA. He graduated from Wapello High and then served a tour with the US Army in France during World War II. After returning from serving his country, he worked at Roy Coon''s Service Station and then for Arnold Kenny in the plumbing business. In 1952 started farming did so until 1972 when he went into plumbing full time. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, a past Mason, Odd Fellow, and the Hays Scott American Legion. He loved to hunt, play cards, travel, was an avid reader, and attending the University of Iowa wrestling and girls basketball games. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the United Methodist Church, the Macular Degenerative Program, or the Morning Sun Care Center. The Cremation Society of Eastern-Central-Western Iowa and Hagele & Honts Funeral Home are assisting with arrangements.
