Linda Marie Benson

Linda Marie Benson, 90, of Traer and formerly of Reinbeck died Wednesday December 17, 2008 at the Sunrise Hill Care and Rehab Center in Traer. Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday December 22, 2008 at the Amity United Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Reinbeck Cemetery. The Cremation Society of Eastern-Central-Western Iowa is assisting with arrangements. Linda was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She is survived by three sons and three daughters: Larry Benson of Conrad, IA; Marie Brown and husband Richard of Hudson, IA; Jerry Benson and wife Jolene Garwin, IA; Judy Benson-Rice and husband John of Lee''s Summit, MO; Darlene Beller and husband Thomas, of Overland Park, KS; Randy Benson and wife Rita, of Reinbeck, IA. Also surviving are grandchildren Deanna McDougal, Green Mountain Falls, CO; Julie Foster, Overland Park, KS; Jodie Roettger, Cedar Falls, IA; Jeff Benson, Montour, IA; Joel Benson, Soloman, KS; Jason Benson, Newton, IA; Josh Benson, Maple Hill, KS; Lindsey Beller, Overland Park, KS; Allison Beller, Tacoma, WA; Ryan Benson, Dubuque, IA; Nathan Benson, Cedar Falls, IA; and Scott Benson Reinbeck, IA; and fourteen great-grandchildren. One sister, Florence Paustian, of Traer, IA, also survives her. Linda was born July 3, 1918 in Tama County to Adolf and Alma (Frahm) Starck. She grew up near Garwin and married Leslie Benson on February 14, 1939 in New Hampton, IA. Together they farmed near Reinbeck for over fifty years while raising their family. She was a member of Amity United Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck. She loved to spend time with her family, fish, garden and play cards. Her husband Leslie, her parents, a twin sister Lillian Yaggy, sister Francis Lane, two brothers, Elmer Starck and Clarence Starck, and a granddaughter Karrie Benson preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be given in Linda''s name to Amity United Presbyterian Church 1803 Hwy D65 Reinbeck, IA 50669 or Cedar Valley Hospice 310 East G. Ave Grundy Center, IA 50638.
