Obituary for Gail Eileen Hronik

Gail Eileen Hronik, 84, of 6001 C Street SW, died at the Woodlands, Sunday, December 14, 2008, after a long illness. There will be no services. The Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa is in charge of arrangements. Gail is survived by her husband Joseph of 63 years; two sons, Tom and Rick Hronik, both of Cedar Rapids; a grandson, Rich Hronik Jr; and a great-grandson. Gail was born on Oc. 15, 1924 in Cedar Rapids to Thomas and Ara Borghart Phillipson. She married Joseph J. Hronik in Washington, PA on June 23, 1943. Gail received a BA degree from Coe College and taught in the College Community, Marion and Cedar Rapids School system for over 25 years. She was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Soroity, the Embroiders Guild, and Grace Episcopal Church. Gail was a volunteer at Mercy Medical. She like knitting and needlework, reading and cooking. She especially loved playing with Ace, her black chow. The family would like to thank the staff of the Woodlands at the MethWick Community for their devoted and loving care of Gail this past year.
