Marjorie Mae Turkal

Marjorie Mae Turkal, 74, of Solon, IA, died Monday, August 11, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, IA, following an extended illness. Per her wishes, she has been cremated. A gathering will be held Thursday August 14, 2008, from 4 PM to 7 PM at Brosh Chapel and Community Center in Solon. Survivors include her husband of 56 years Joe, a daughter Malinda (Bruce) Anderson of Solon, two sons; Mat (Katy) Turkal of Iowa City and Mark (Jody) Turkal of Solon and a brother, Hal Fulton, of Honolulu, HI. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Vicki (John) See, David Bremer, Hannah and Max Turkal, and two great-grandchildren; Cindy and Jacob See and special friend Yvonne Epley. Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents Bruce and Alma and a brother Charles. Marjorie was born May 16, 1934 in Iowa City the daughter of Bruce and Alma (Taylor) Fulton. She married Joe Turkal on June 7, 1952 in Solon. Marjorie was active in the Solon Public Library and was head librarian for 29 years before her retirement in 1991. She was a member of the Solon Women''s Club and the Starcraft Camping Club. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, camping, cats, square dancing, listening to music, and of course reading. The family would like to thank the Iowa City Hospice for all their support and assistance. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa City Hospice in Marjorie''s name at 1025 Wade St Iowa City, IA 52240.
