Joseph Eugene Myers

Fredericksburg, Iowa - Joseph Eugene Myers died with his loving family by his bedside on Saturday, September 22, 2007. He was cared for by his daughter Kelly, and his son-law-Jim Stewart in their home since May of 2006. Joe was born March 8, 1927 in Waterloo, Iowa. He served in the US Army during World War II. Following his discharge, he married Dimity Jo Anderson. They set up permanent residence in Waterloo, and together they raised five children. The sixth child died in infancy. Joe retired early from his job at Northwestern Bell to care for his wife until her passing on December 31, 1987. Joe was an active member of St. Edwards Catholic Church. He also enjoyed bridge, and was an avid player with the Cedar Falls Bridge Club. Joe''s deep love and never ending support for his children are testaments to his full life and generosity on this earth. Joe is preceded in death by his wife Dimity, daughter Elizabeth, parents Harold and Delia Myers, brother Richard Myers and sister Rita Wagner. Joe is survived by sons John Myers of Edmond, OK, and Judd Myers of Waterloo, IA. Other surviving children are daughters Carolyn (Jim) Stewart of Fredericksburg, IA, Andrea (Bob) Smith of St. Charles, MN, and Johanna (Rory) Manley of Phoenix, AZ. He was also survived by grandchildren Joe Randall, Laura (Devon) Patton Stephanie Randall, and Emily Coleman, Monica and Rachel Manning, Heather, Brooke, Blake and Michael Tasler and Colin Manley. Joe will be lovingly missed by this family, many other relatives and dear friends. A visitation will be held at 9:30 am this Tuesday at St. Edwards Catholic Church Waterloo, Iowa with a funeral mass following at 11:00 am. A committal service will be held for family and friends following the service at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Luncheon will then be served back at St. Edwards.
