Henry Wayne Shull
Henry Wayne Shull, D.C. died September 9, 2007 in Davenport, Iowa. In accordance with his wishes, Dr. Shull was cremated. Memorials in his name may be made to Kentuckiana Children''s Center, 1810 Brownsboro Road, Louisville, KY 40206 or Arrowhead Ranch, 12200 104th Street, Coal Valley, IL 61240. Dr. Shull was born in Glasco, Kansas to Forrest and Ruth Sarensen Shull. He graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1964 and practiced in Denver, Colorado and Beloit, Wisconsin until 1975 when he returned to Davenport to join the faculty of Palmer. Since that time, Dr. Shull served as either faculty or administration at Palmer, Palmer College of Chiropractic West and New York Chiropractic College. He passionately devoted his professional life to the education of future doctors of chiropractic. He valued the professional and personal relationships that grew from his commitment to quality education and was reinforced in his efforts by former students and colleagues who professed that both they and the chiropractic profession benefited from his contributions. The following quote reflects his life: It is not the critic who counts, not the man who points out how the strong man stumbled or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena; whose face is marred by dust and sweat; who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, and spends himself in a worthy cause; who, at the best, knows the triumph of high achievement; and who, at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat. Theodore Roosevelt Dr. Shull is survived by his wife, Eileen; his mother Ruth in Kansas City, Kansas; his brother Peter in Fairview, Oregon, his aunts Shirley Carson, Mission, Kansas and Geraldine Sarensen, Holton, Kansas; his numerous cousins; his extended family in New York, especially Harry Barfoot; and his best friend and colleague, Dr. Vern Hagen, Bettendorf, Iowa.
