Alice J. Blair

Alice J. Blair, 71, of Eldora, IA passed away Saturday morning, October 20, 2007 at her home, with her family at her side, following an extended illness. Per her wishes, Alice was cremated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Iowa River Conservation Club (Steamboat Boathouse) in Steamboat Rock, IA. Survivors include her four sons; Jim Blair of Hubbard, IA, Tom (Suzann) Blair of Jewel, IA, Dan (Angela) Blair of Alden, IA, and Randy “Joe” Blair of McClelland, IA; one brother, Donald Vestal of Alden, IA; 14 grandchildren; 16+ great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth Blair; three brothers, Earl, Marvin, and Floyd, Jr.; and one sister Lula Jane. Alice Jean Vestal was born July 14, 1936 in Marshall County, IA the daughter of Floyd and Cyntha (Berk) Vestal. She married Kenneth Blair on May 1, 1954 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Kenneth preceded Alice in death on June 6, 1996. Alice spent her days volunteering for many organizations including S.H.I.P.P., Hawkeye Valley Area Agency, O.I.L., Pioneer Cemetery, and The Chapel Church, where she served as secretary. Memorials maybe directed in Alice’s name to the Hospice of Hampton, IA, or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
