Roger Paul Wedeking, 71, of Waverly, IA died Thursday, November 22, 2007 at the Allison Health Care Center after a long battle with cancer. Per his wishes Roger was cremated. A memorial service will be held December 8th, 2007 at 11:00 am at Pleasant Valley Church in rural Clarksville, IA. Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Eastern-Central-Western Iowa. Roger Paul Wedeking was born December 3, 1935 in Waverly, IA to Martin and Edna (Weinberg) Wedeking. He was raised on a farm in Fremont Township, Butler County, attended rural school, and graduated Clarksville High School. Roger was baptized and confirmed at Pleasant Valley Church. He married Ellen Weideman of Janesville, IA and later divorced. Roger served his country in the United States Army. From 1962-1967 he served his community as a Waverly police officer. In 1967, Roger began a 28-year career with the Carnation/Nestle Companies. Survivors include his daughter Laura (Mike) Healey of Bloomington, MN; one son, Paul (Brenda) Wedeking of Waverly, IA; one brother, Ralph Wedeking of Fort Dodge, IA; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. His parents and an infant brother, Robert, preceded him in death. Memorials may be sent to the family of Roger Wedeking to the attention of his daughter Laura Healey at 8116 W. 86th St. Circle Bloomington, MN 55438.
