Lina DeLores Rotto

Lina DeLores (Rufsvold) Rotto, 78, passed away on Friday, November 2, 2007 in Decorah, Iowa. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 9 at 2 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church located at 701 Iowa Avenue, Decorah. Lina DeLores Rufsvold was born August 12, 1929 in Camp Crook, South Dakota, the daughter of John and Norma (Gilbertson) Rufsvold. She graduated from Buffalo High School in South Dakota and Luther College in Iowa where she met John Thomas Rotto. They were married on June 8, 1952 in Buffalo. As pastor''s wife Lina served as choir director, Sunday School teacher, and Bethel Series leader at congregations in Forman-Rutland, North Dakota; Fairfax, California; Valley City, North Dakota; and Grand Forks, North Dakota. She also worked as an elementary school teacher in White Bear Lake, Minnesota and North Hollywood, California. Lina and John had four children; Jon, LiAnn, Daniel and Peder. Lina was a dedicated mother and homemaker. She became a licensed realtor in Grand Forks. In retirement, Lina and John lived at their lake cabin on Kabekona in northern Minnesota and traveled in their motor home to Florida, Texas and California. In 2002, Lina and John celebrated their 50th anniversary with their family and friends at their home at Vennehjem in Decorah. Survivors include her husband, John Rotto; three sons, Jon (Beth) Rotto of Decorah, Daniel (Liz Rog) Rotto of Decorah, and Peder Rotto of Lisbon, ND; plus three granddaughters Sophia, Ida and Ingrid. The family wishes to thank Pastor Joan Mau, the staff at the Aase Haugen Home and Memory Care Unit, and the Winneshiek Medical Center for their care for Lina. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Ardis Sell of Glendive, Montana; and her daughter, LiAnn of San Francisco, California. Lina''s cheerful, loving, and indomitable spirit will be missed by anyone who came to know and love her.
