Enid E. Shupe
When God calls our loved ones home, he leaves a gift of memories in exchange. My memories of teaching with Enid are pleasant ones at Lambert Elementary. I was honored when she asked me to substitute her second graders while she and Leonard spent time in Germany. When Roger, Dennis' brother, was to be an exchange student to Finland both Enid and Leonard took numerous pictures of our family. Both of them were great people! We wish you the best, Rosalyn Rulifson
I wonder how my life would be different, if I hadn't been one of Enid Shupe's second-graders back in 1965? Over the winter, I was in a sledding mishap which resulted in nearly two months of missed school. Mrs. Shupe made sure I received my homework as she had faith that I could pass to the next grade. She brought it to the hospital and made sure it was ready for my folks to pick up at school when I was convalescing at home. I tease my husband, Tom, saying I might have married his younger brother instead! I probably learned more from Enid over the last 10 years. In 34 years of teaching, she said she never had a bad student. That could be close to 1,000 students. Mr. Rosauer recently reminded me..."that's called DEDICATION"! I never made it to her memorial service with the Iowa ice storm, but I hope to meet Sue some day, and personally thank her for sharing her Mom (and Dad) with us. I last saw Enid over the summer, and she knew me...as sharp as ever and that's how I'll remember her, gratefully.
I had Mrs. Shupe for 2nd grade in probably 1979. I loved her she was great! We lived close by and I remember she would invite me over to play with I believe her grand-daughter and they took us to Effigy Mounds. She was a very special lady:)
