Charles “Chuck” G. Myers, 89, of West Point, IA died suddenly Saturday, November 24, 2007 at his home. Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 1, 2007 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, West Point with Rev. Apo Mpanda officiating. Private family inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, West Point. The Rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church. A wake service will be held on Friday from 7:30-8:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church. A dinner for relatives and friends will be held at the American Legion Hall immediately after the funeral. The Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa is assisting the family. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Darlene; Sons, Hal (Anita) Myers of St. Paul, IA, Gene (Kittie) Myers of Farmington, IA, Dan (Sue) Myers of Donnellson, IA; Grandchildren, Amy (Luke), Lori, Becky & Eric; Step Grandchildren, Kim, Katie, Harold (Stephanie); Step great-granddaughter, Jordan. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Virginia and brother, Robert. Charles G. Myers was born October 31, 1918 the son of Harold & Thelma (McCracken) Myers. On April 22, 1950 he married Darlene Schwartz in West Point, Iowa. Chuck was a farmer/carpenter and worked at Freitag Lumber Co. of West Point for many years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, lifetime member of Prairie Hunters Club, Heritage Club & Senior Citizens of West Point and enjoyed fishing, hunting and was an avid trap shooter and an avid Dodger fan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in his name to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Calvary Cemetery, West Point, IA.
