Sandra Jean Ploeger

Sandy Ploeger, 58, of Bellevue, IA passed away Friday, June 15, 2007 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Per her wishes, Sandy was cremated with no public visitation or service. Private family inurnment and a celebration of her life will take place at a later date. Sandy is remembered by her good friend Allen “Skip” Weber of Bellevue; son Gene (Jennifer) Ploeger and two grandchildren, Alyssa and Ayden, of Peosta; daughter Krisy Ploeger and one grandchild, Adrienne, of Bellevue; two brothers DJ (Diane) Hentges of Dubuque and Dennis (Judy) Hentges of Madison, FL; one sister Jan DeMoss of Dubuque; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Lorraine Hentges; two brothers Danny and Bob Hentges; and one sister Pat Koster. Sandra Jean Hentges was born August 2, 1948 to Paul and Lorraine (Breitbach) Hentges in Dubuque, IA. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School. She was employed eighteen years with Ensign Corporation of Bellevue and, prior to her illness, 9 years with the Bronco Inn of Bellevue. Sandy was a beloved patron of the Bronco Inn and the Bellevue American Legion where she enjoyed spending time with friends, watching Wheel of Fortune and cheering on the Chicago Cubs. She enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Bronco Inn bowling team. Her biggest joy was her three grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Hospice of Dubuque in Sandy’s name. The family wishes to extend its sincerest thanks to Dr. Schultheis and the Oncology Staff at Medical Associates, to Dr. DeGeest and the Oncology Staff at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and to Hospice of Dubuque for the care and support provided to Sandy and her family throughout her illness.
