Leland W. Lester

Leland W. Lester, 65, of Centerville, died Thursday, June 7, 2007 at the V.A. Medical Center, Des Moines, following an extended illness. Per his wishes, he was cremated. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Eastern-Central-Western Iowa. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine (Lori) of Centerville; Son, William Lester of Centerville; Brother, Will Lester of Red Oak, IA; Sisters, Linda Hoover of Topeka, KS & Rita Teater of Unionville, IA. Also surviving is a granddaughter, Amber Lynn Robles and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Joseph Lee Lester and brother, Steven Lester. Leland Wayne Lester was born April 12, 1942 in Indianola, IA the son of Wayne & Ruth (Peterson) Lester. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Leland married Lorraine Hall on November 26, 1966 in Chariton, IA. They owned and operated a laundromat and several rentals in the Centerville area.
