John James Cibula

John James Cibula, 78, of Marion, formerly of Tama, died Friday morning, December 21, 2007 in his home following an extended illness. A memorial gathering will be held from 1:00-3:00 PM, Saturday, December 29, 2007 at the Tama American Legion Post #73. The Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Peggy Ann; Sons, Randy (Pam) Cibula of Marion & Brian (Jane) Cibula of Kellogg, IA; Grandchildren, Brooke of Marion, Derek of Cedar Rapids, Britni of Marion, Matthew of Grimes, IA, Daniel of Kellogg and Anna of Waterloo, IA; great granddaughter, Charlee of Grimes; Sisters, Mercedes Goodrich of Marengo & Marlene Ternus of VanHorne. He was preceded in death by his parents. John James Cibula was born June 10, 1929 in Tama, IA the son of James Frank & Agnes Elizabeth (Splichal) Cibula. He graduated from the Tama High School and later served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On October 12, 1952, John married Peggy Ann Dumbauld. Over the years, John was employed by Jack Spooner, Borden’s Dairy, owned & operated Flynn Dairy, Gebhardt’s Motor’s and Bumper to Bumper. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Tama American Legion, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, landscaping and playing his guitar at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him and knew him. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Winslow House and Village Ridge for the care given to John during his stays. It is greatly appreciated. Memorials may be given in his name to the Tama American Legion Post #73, 1105 E. 5th St. Tama, IA 52339-2217.
