Randy J. Thurn, 48, of Edgewood, Iowa passed away Monday, January 22, 2007 at his home in Edgewood, Iowa after a lengthy illness. Per his wishes, Randy was cremated, and no services are planned. Randy is survived by his wife Sindee Thurn of Edgewood; six children Travis (Marie) Chambers of Independence, Shannon (Brad) Chambers of Manchester, Sarah (Robert) Saddoris of Manchester, Ryan Chambers & (Aleshia Boedine) of Manchester, Ami (Doug) Steil of Earlville, Adam Thurn (fiance Danielle Hackbarth) of Edgewood; parents Lee and Carol Thurn of Edgewood; and one sister Rosalee (Dean) Boeckenstedt of Edgewood. Randy is also survived by twelve grandchildren, Ashley, Dylan, Gregory, Blake, Chandler, Codee, Wyatt, Emma, Kayden, Dalton, Levi, and Joseph. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Paul and Cecelia Kelchen; his paternal grandparents Clarence and Lucille Thurn; aunt Velma (Kelchen) Davis, and uncle Merle Kelchen. Randy Jo Thurn was born July 06, 1958 to Lee and Carol (Kelchen) Thurn in Edgewood, IA. He married Sindee (Cole) Chambers on July 10, 1987 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. He graduated from Edgewood-Colesburg High School. Randy lived and farmed in Edgewood all his life. Randy enjoyed his family, conversation with friends, and more than life itself he loved the land, and his livestock. He was a hard worker and took great pride in his Red Angus Cattle Herd. He also enjoyed hunting and an occasional run in with a fishing pole. A special thank you for all the prayers, cards, and visits throughout his illness. If Randy would have had brothers their names might have been Rick, Jan, Dean, Joe, Jeff, Dave, Emery and Bill. He loved you all so.... Memorials may be directed to Cancer Research in Randy’s name.
