Elberta A. Trabert

Elberta (Bertie) Trabert, 90 of Mount Pleasant, Iowa passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2007 at the Arbor Court Nursing Home in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Per her wishes, Elberta was cremated. A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Forest Home Cemetery, Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Bertie was born January 20, 1916 in Mediapolis, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Bertha Deam. Bertie graduated from Mediapolis High School having completed the Normal Training Course. She played sports and was active in dramatics. She then taught as an assistant teacher in the first grade for three years. In 1935 she married Robert W. Potter (who died in 1955). They owned and operated the Potter Drug Store in partnership with Dr. William Potter from 1936 to 1956 when it was sold to Kyle Drug. In 1963 she married Virgil Trabert. Bertie is survived by one sister Vivian Deam of Wapello; one son Kent Potter of Mt. Pleasant; one daughter Susie Snyder of Mt. Pleasant; one step-son Rick Trabert of Tiffin, IA; one grandson Michael Earp of Mt. Pleasant; one granddaughter Billi Jo Earp of Mt. Pleasant; plus seven step grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert; husband Virgil; two stepsons Gary and Dennis Trabert; and one infant son. Mrs. Trabert was a member of the First United Methodist Church, WSCS Women’s Society and American Legion Auxiliary. In later years she managed Seifert’s Ready To Wear for two years and assistant for one year. She also worked part time at Panther’s Drug Store for two years. She enjoyed bridge, athletics (Hawkeye fan) and working in church. A memorial has been established for Hospice of Central Iowa.
