Obituary for Bette Jane Johnson

Bette Jane Johnson, 84, of Colona, IL died Wednesday January 31, 2007 at the Oak Glen Nursing Home in Coal Valley, IL after a long illness Survivors include two sons; James (Mary) Johnson of East Moline, IL and Andrew (Linda) Johnson of Slidell, LA, and one sister, Shirley Eddy, of Harlington, TX. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Her husband, a son David, her parents, two brothers and two sisters precede her in death. Bette was born September 4, 1922 to James and Abbie Ellis in Fulton County, IL. She married David A. Johnson on May 28, 1938 in Kahoka, MO. Bette worked for the East Moline Board of Education for 17 years and started the Hot Lunch Programs for the East Moline School System. She won a Fulton County writing contest and was awarded a full scholarship to any of the Illinois State Universities. She cherished her family and each and every one of her friends. She enjoyed cooking and traveling. In lieu of flowers a memorial may be given to the First Presbyterian Church in East Moline to honor her memory.
