Mary Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Russell (Garrett), 84, of Des Moines, IA died Thursday August 30, 2007 at Trinity Mother Frances hospital in Tyler, TX. Memorial Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. September 11, 2007 at Grace Episcopal Church, 2650 East Scyene Road Mesquite, TX. Mrs. Russell is survived by a son John Michael ‘Mike’ Russell and his wife Lynn of Canton, TX and two brothers; John Garrett of Apple Valley, CA and Robert Garrett of Urbandale, IA Her husband John, her parents, two brothers Richard and Worth Garrett, and two sisters Lois Severson and Martha Hanna preceded her in death. Mrs. Russell was born May 29, 1923 in Cedar, IA to Clark and Cora Garrett. She graduated from Ferguson High School in Ferguson, IA and attended the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, IA. She worked many years working in accounting for May Petroleum in Dallas, TX. Mrs. Russell was a member of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Dallas, TX. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa in Betty’s name.
