D.D. ‘Toot’ Card, 76, of 1655 Dorell Drive, Hampton, IA died Wednesday, August 1, 2007 in the Hospice Unit of the Franklin General Hospital in Hampton of pulmonary fibrosis. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, August 6, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Dumont Reformed Church in Dumont. The family will greet friends starting at 9:30 a.m. Delores Dale Card was born on September 2, 1930 to Chester and Kathryn (Bulten) Card at Dumont, IA. He graduated from Dumont High School in 1949. He married his high school sweetheart Phyllis Meinders on February 23, 1951 at the Dumont Reformed Church, Dumont, IA. To this union two sons were born, Douglas and Dwight. Toot honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean conflict from 1952-1954. Following his discharge he started working for the Dumont School as a custodian and bus driver. He retired in 1990 after 36 years. He then worked for Greene Limestone of Greene, IA for 6 years, after which he worked for the Hampton Country Club, where he was a member and a former board member. During the 60''s and 70''s you would see him umpiring baseball and refereeing basketball. He enjoyed any kind of sports and spent a great deal of time coaching kids. He was also an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. Toot and Phyllis have spent the last eleven winters in Mesa, AZ. Toot was a member of the Dumont Reformed Church and the Dumont American Legion. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Phyllis; son Doug and Doug''s wife Diane, whom he loved as a daughter, of Hampton IA; son Dwight of Denver, CO; four grandchildren, Seth Card (friend Felicia) of Hampton, IA, Ryan (Crystal) Card of Hampton, IA, Kasey Card of Denver, CO, and Mati Card of Denver, CO; three step great grandchildren, Alexa, Hector, and Laney, and Felicia''s children Nick and Journey; two brothers, Dallas of Alexander, IA and Robert of Dumont, IA; a sister Judy John of Des Moines, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
