Raymond Max Gloyer

Raymond Max Gloyer, 89 of Washington, Iowa passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at the Halcyon House in Washington, Iowa after an extended illness. Raymond was born January 21, 1918 in Whiting, IA, the son of Max and Hattie (Anthony) Gloyer. Ray married Marge Rodman on July 6, 1948. Ray graduated from Iowa State University and loved the Cyclones. He served as an officer in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific submarine fleet and taught GI school after the war. Over the years he started and operated several businesses in Washington. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, and was involved in the Association for Retarded Children, Camp Reece, and the Optimist club. Ray is survived by sons Mark and Jon, grandchildren Jessica and Zachary, great-granddaughter Keli, and special friend Susan. His parents, his wife, one son, one sister, and two brothers preceded him in death. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Washington County in Ray’s name.
