Obituary for John M. Konen

John M. Konen, 81, a resident of Northbrook Manor Care Center died there Thursday, April 19, 2007, following a long illness. There will be no services. Inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Eastern, Central, and Western Iowa. Survivors include two sons Dan of Marion, and Jeff and wife Shirley of Cincinnati, Ohio, and a brother Bill Konen of South Carolina. Also survived by 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Johneta, and a brother Allen Konen. John was born November 7, 1925 in Cedar Rapids to William and Bernice Konen. He married Johneta L. Stribling on September 24, 1947 in Cedar Rapids. She died June 13, 2004. John served with the US Army during WW II and Korea, and enjoyed playing golf. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post No 788.
