James Franklin Stroud

James Franklin Stroud: 60, of 2435 Garden Avenue, Waverly, Iowa, died Monday afternoon, September 25, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Janesville United Methodist Church with Rev. Kerrin Kirkpatrick officiating. A luncheon will be served at the church following the memorial service. Jim is survived by his wife, Linda, and four children, three daughters, Judy Lampe and husband Dan of Waverly, Sandra Riggs and husband Bob of Waverly and Kathy Pogwizd and husband Shawn of Nevada, Iowa and a son, Jimmy Stroud of Waverly. He is also survived by one sister, Judy Skaggs and husband Gary of Anchorage, Alaska. Jim was blessed with 7 grandchildren as well. Jim was preceded in death by his parents. Jim was born May 27, 1946 in Bentonville, Arkansas, the son of Clarise “Tad” and Virginia (O’Neal) Stroud. Jim married Linda Nichols on May 29, 1965 in Janesville, Iowa. He served his county in United States Air Force from 1963 to 1968. He was employed by John Deere in Waterloo as electrician retiring in 2001 after 29 years of service. Jim was a member of the VFW in Waverly and AMVETS. He was an avid gun collector and was federally licensed to sell guns. Jim’s greatest joy in life was his wife, children and especially his grandchildren. The Stroud family deeply appreciates the care and compassion provided to them by Cedar Valley Hospice.
