James Welker

James Welker, Jr., 80, of Ankeny, Iowa passed away Saturday, October 14, 2006 at the Mill Pond Care Center in Ankeny, Iowa. Per his wishes, James was cremated. Service times are pending. James is survived by one son James (Julie) Welker, III of Des Moines, IA; two daughters Cynde (Ernie) Munguia of Castle Rock, CO, and Mary (Brian) Rose of Milton, WA; two brothers Earl Romans of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Albert Romans of Anchorage, Alaska; plus five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his parents James and Helen Welker, his wife Lola, one son, two brothers, and one sister. James Edward Welker Jr. was born January 4, 1926 to James and Helen (Rinn) Welker in Denver, Colorado. He married Lola Scholz on March 4, 1950 in Denver, Colorado. Lola passed away on March 17, 2000. James served in the United States Army during World War II from 1944 till his honorable discharge in 1946. James moved to Alaska in 1951 and was employed with the Alaska Husky Battery Company up till 1961 when he became owner/operator of the company retiring in 1989. James was a member of the Grange in Springfield, Oregon. Memorials may be directed to the Welker family for a memorial of their choice.
