Donald Earl Wagner

Donald E. Wagner, 77, of West Union, Iowa passed away Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at the Palmer Lutheran Health Care Center in West Union, Iowa. Per his wishes, Donald was cremated. Memorial service will be held on Friday, October 20, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the West Union Bethel Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Galen Smith officiating. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 a.m. till the time of the service. Donald is survived by his wife Marilyn Wagner of West Union; two sons Richard (Leslie) Wagner of Lucas, TX, and James (Tonia) Wagner of Brandon, FL; one daughter Mary (James) Schiefer of Littleton, CO; eight grandchildren Holly Wagner, Jacob (Brandie) Wagner, Nicholas (Jean) Schiefer, Eli Wagner, Eric Wagner, Beth (Rob) Scoggins, Cole Wagner, and Austin Wagner; plus one great granddaughter Leyton Scoggins. Donald was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Robert Wagner. Donald Earl Wagner was born September 29, 1929 to Perry and Frances (Chensvold) Wagner in West Union, Iowa. He married Marilyn Koile on April 2, 1949 in Decorah, Iowa. Donald graduated from West Union High School and attended courses at Iowa State University and Drake University. He was employed 39 years with the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company from 1947 till his retirement in 1988. Donald was a member of the West Union Masonic Lodge, Telephone Pioneers, Score, and the West Union Bethel Presbyterian Church and the Bethel Presbyterian Church Choir. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, being with his family, and having coffee at the Town House Café. Memorials may be directed to Heart of Iowa Hospice at 112 Jefferson St. West Union, IA 52175 or to the Bethel Presbyterian Church at 208 North Vine, West Union, IA 52175 in Donald’s name.
