Betty Maxine Innis, 84, 15212 Highway F 17 E in Newburg died Sunday, October 8, 2006 at her home following a long illness. A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, October 21, from 11-2pm at the family residence in Newburg, . Survivors include her husband, Virgil; a daughter, Janet Brown (Lyle) of Grinnell; a son, Rick Innis (Teresa) of Iowa City; five grandchildren, Angela Brown, Timothy Brown, Tracy Woolfolk, Stacey Flemr and Aaron Innis; ten great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father Lester; two brother’s Clayton Beam and George Beam; and a step-brother Lester Hill, Jr. Betty was born April 15, 1922 in Grinnell the daughter of Glen G. and Myrtle P. (Hulbert) Beam. She married Virgil D. Innis on April 27, 1939 in Lancaster, Missouri. She worked for Midwest Metal Stamping in Kellogg for 32 years, before retiring. Betty attended Grinnell High School, enjoyed reading, traveling and collecting doll’s and Santa’s. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Grinnell. Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa.
