Ann Catherine Willey

Ann Catherine Willey, 88, of West Union died Tuesday March 28, 2006 at Good Samaritan Care Center in West Union after a long illness. A small memorial service was held Wednesday Morning at Good Samaritan Care Center and Graveside Services and inurnment will take place at a later date at the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, CA. Survivors include a son Daniel (Abagail) Eggink of San Francisco, CA, two daughters; Susan (Arnim) Nicolson of San Martin, CA and Ann Loree (Robert) Kloster of West Union, IA. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and a special niece, Patricia Brown, of Lake Port, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, three loving husbands, two brothers, a sister and a grandson. Ann was born November 7, 1917 in San Francisco, CA to Joseph and Edith Hickey. She lived in San Francisco until she attended San Jose City College and later San Jose State College. In 1938 she married Bernard Eggirk and they had three children. Bernard died in 1962 and Ann later married John Champlin in 1966. He died in 1971. In 1977 she married Frank Willey in Lake County. Frank died in 1981. For twenty-five years Ann worked as the office manager for a large architectural firm in San Jose, CA. She retired in 1974. Ann enjoyed reading and cooking and liked to stay active and travel. She was a lifetime member of the Navy League of the US and served as the National Director in the 1970’s. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Palmer Lutheran Hospital, and the Wednesday Art Club. Friends may, if they wish, make donations to the Good Samaritan Care Facility in West Union, IA. The Cremation Society of Eastern-Central-Western Iowa is assisting with the arrangements.
