Jerry Leistad Gude, 75, of Elk Horn, died June 25, 2006 at his home following a short illness. Memorial Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday June 29, 2006 at the Elk Horn Lutheran Church in Elk Horn. The family invites friends and family to join them on Wednesday, June 28, 2006 from 6-8 PM at Roger & Lisa Parker’s home at 2017 Tivoli, Elk Horn. Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Donna; mother Dagny Gude of Elk Horn; sons Greg Gude and wife Nettie of Olsburg, KS, and Glen and wife Lori Gude of Brighton, CO.; daughters Gaye Mussallem and husband Tom of Littleton, CO., Glee Smith and husband Jim of North Platte, NE, Lisa Parker and husband Roger of Elk Horn, IA, and Lori Moldenhauer and husband Don of Wilber, NE. Jerry is also survived by brother Arnold Gude and wife Doris of Elk Horn, sister Betty Hansen and husband Ranald of Elk Horn, as well as his grandchildren Dana, Amber, Greg and wife Natasha, Bradd, Jake, Jordie, Maddie, Jessie, Carleigh, Zach, Jamie, Michael, Ryan, Dylan, Sydney, Reid, Kory, and Tad; and great-granddaughter, Nacona. Jerry was preceded in death by his father Elmer Gude. Jerry Leistad Gude was born August 28, 1930, the beloved son of Elmer and Dagny (Leistad) Gude. He graduated from Elk Horn High School in 1949. He married Donna Rowley on June 15, 1952 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Atlantic. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. After returning from the Army he was employed at Marne Elk Horn Telephone Company. He then entered into farming, owned a feed dealership, and raised Saint Bernards and Westies for many years. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Atlantic, Elk Horn American Legion, Kimballton AmVets, and was commander of the Elk Horn Post for many years. He loved to fish, play Town Team Baseball, enjoyed playing cards and billards, family vacations at Okoboji, but above all, his greatest passion was cheering for his children and grandchildren at sporting events. The Cremation Society of Eastern~Central~Western Iowa is assisting with the arrangements.
