Obituary for Portia A. Block

Portia Anna Emma Block, 83, of Oelwein died Sunday, July 23, 2006 at her home following a long illness. Portia was born August 14, 1922, in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Otto A. and Myrtha (Lenz) Trampe. She was united in marriage to Donald Joseph Block on March 20, 1943 in Wauwatosa, WI. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Oelwein, and volunteered much of her time to the hospital in Antigo, WI. Survivors include son John Block and wife Mary Lou of Oelwein, daughter Kathleen Wendling and husband Mark of Swisher, brother Philip Trampe of Brookfield, WI, and sister Karla Johnson of Colgate, WI. Also surviving are her loving grandchildren Michelle, Donna Jo, Ed, Matt, and Laura and great grandchildren, Brad and Amanda. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Donald J. Block in 1977. A memorial fund has been established.
