Eberhard “Eddie” Braun, 77, of 1785 26th Street, Marion died July 13, 2006 at his home following an extended illness. Memorial Services will be held 11 AM on July 22, 2006 at Shueyville United Methodist Church. Rev. Sheryll Untiedt will officiate. Private Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Columbarium. Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Eastern – Central – Western Iowa. Survivors include his wife Sue Welty, daughter Kerstin (Rodd Baxter) Braun of Atkins, daughter Regina Spurgin of Marion, son Marcus Braun of Fort Worth, TX, daughter Claudia (Richard) Bow of Sacramento, CA, grandchildren Andrew and Alicia Spurgin and Richard Wolfgang Bow, and sister Dorothea Braun of Stockholm, Sweden. He is also survived by his bonus children Sheleen Welty of Cedar Rapids, Laura (John) Pelechek of Cedar Rapids, Rev. Sheryll (Dave) Untiedt of Shueyville, John (Melissa) Welty of Kimball, MI, as well as bonus grandchildren Saige and Tessa Turner, Jenna Pelechek, Matt and Abby Untiedt, and Nick and Jordan Welty. He was preceded in death by wife Gisela, parents Fedor and Marie Braun, and sister Charlotte Oberwelland. Eberhard Otto Friedrich Braun was born November 22, 1928 in Gruenburg, Silesia, Germany the beloved son of Fedor and Marie Braun. He married Gisela Müss on April 21, 1960 in Chicago, IL. Gisela passed away on May 8, 1986. He was employed by Combined Insurance Company of America for 28 years where he served as district manager for 25 years. He met Sue Welty on July 4, 1988, and they were married on November 3, 2002 in Marion, Iowa. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, history, and sharing his wisdom and life experiences with loved ones. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Cedar Valley Humane Society or the St. Jude Children’s Hospitals in memory of Eddie.
