Obituary for Charles W. Henderson

Charles W. Henderson, 86, of Ottumwa, Iowa died on Wednesday, July 26, 2006, at Ottumwa Manor in Ottumwa, Iowa. An inurnment service will be held at a later date. Survivors include his wife Ruth Henderson of Ottumwa, IA; two sons Mike (Ruth) Henderson of Ottumwa, IA, and Robert (Linda) Henderson of Creston, IA; three grandchildren and one great grandson. His parents, three brothers, and one granddaughter preceded him in death. Charles Wesley Henderson was born May 22, 1920, to Earl and Maggie (Wilcher) Henderson in Lincoln, Nebraska. He married Ruth Jordan on November 16, 1940 in Kirksville, Missouri. Charles served in the United States Army from January 29, 1943 till his honorable discharge on January 25, 1946. Charles was employed with Wapello County for 35 years before his retirement working as a Heavy equipment operator and truck driver. Charles enjoyed hunting and fishing. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Ottumwa Manor in Charles’s name.
