Agnes Rosalie Paulsen

Agnes R. Paulsen 87, of Maquoketa, died July 1, 2006 following a short illness. Graveside Services will be held July 15, 2006 at Clinton Memorial Lawn, Clinton, Iowa. Arrangements by the Cremation Society of Eastern Central and Western Iowa. Survivors include her two sisters Adabelle Myatt and Virginia (Leroy) Powelka both of Maquoketa. Also surviving are 6 nieces and nephews Joseph (Diane) Powelka of Sun Prairie, WI, John (Sheila) Powelka of Mechanicsville, Mike (Joan) Powelka of Janesville, Cindy Powelka (Ed) Storm of Sioux City, Alice Hope Powelka (Mel) Hanson of Lisbon, Bill (Kristina) Myatt of Le Claire, and 15 great nieces and nephews. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy E. Paulsen, and one great niece and one great nephew. Agnes Rosalie Paulsen was born April 17, 1919 in Maquoketa the beloved daughter of William and Daisy (Wilcox) Busch. She graduated from Maquoketa High School and attended 2 years at Maquoketa Junior College. She married Roy E. Paulsen on July 21 1952 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She was employed as a Laboratory Technician at Clinton Corn Processing Plant for more than 40 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Maquoketa, Clinton Chapter # 65 Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed sewing and reading. Throughout high school, college, and until 1943 when she moved to Clinton, she was sharing her solo voice with appreciative crowds at church services, marriage ceremonies and funerals. She was a loving sister, aunt, and great aunt and will be greatly missed by all. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Elevator Fund at First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa, or to the Shriner’s Hospital’s for Crippled Children in Chicago.
