Juanita Byrle Hansen

Juanita Byrle Hansen, 98, of 103 West Broadway Street, Stanwood, died Sunday, February 19, 2006 in the Mechanicsville Care Center where she was a resident for the past 2 1/2 years. A Memorial Service of a Celebration of her Life will be held in the Stanwood Union Church on Monday, February 27, 2:30 p.m. Pastors Phil Leipold and Carol Hanks Lamp will lead the service. Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Hansen Gibb of Stanwood and a son, Sherman Hansen of Elkhart, IN. Also surviving are a brother, Dale Johnson, Long Beach, CA, six adult grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Juanita was born, May 18, 1907 in Stanwood, the daughter of Ira and Estelle (Easterly) Johnson. She was a graduate of the Wadena Hospital School of Nursing, Wadena, MN in 1930. Juanita married William C. Hansen on August 21, 1934 in Mechanicsville. He died in 1996. She spent many years helping her husband in various businesses and farming. Juanita was very active in her community. She was a charter board member of the Stanwood Public Library, a long-standing member and officer of General Federated Womens Club, former leader of the Keen Teen 4-H club, and member of Farm Bureau Women, Cedar County Homemakers and the former United Presbyterian Church and Womens Circle of Stanwood. She was willingly called upon to professionally nurse community members in need of medical attention. Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be given to the Stanwood Public Library.
