Loren K. Goodknight

Loren K. Goodknight, 67, of Eldora, died Saturday, April 29th, following a long illness. His body has been cremated. A memorial service in Loren''s memory will be held at a later date. The Cremation Society of Eastern-Western-Central Iowa is asissting with the arrangements. Loren was born on February 11, 1939, in Hubbard, IA, the son of Ronald and Alice (Mannetter) Goodknight. Loren grew up in Hubbard and lived in Iowa Falls, Forest City and Eldora. He earned his G.E.D. and later graduated from Hawkeye Tech Iowa Law Enforcement Accademy. Loren worked for Gustison''s Royal Blue Supermarket for 10 years where he served as the meat department manager, assistant manager and manager. He then worked as the Eldora Chief of Police for 2years. Loren then served as a Deputy Sheriff for Hardin County and finally served as Hardin County Sheriff for 23 years. Loren was a member of The United Methodist Church of Eldora, Order of Eastern Star, Montague Lodge #117 A.F. & A.M. and served in the National Guard-Red Bull Division for 3 years. Loren is survived by two sons, Tony and Mike Goodknight of Eldora, IA, one daughter Victoria Lynn Risius of Litchfield Park, AZ, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Ronald and Alice and one brother Gaylon.
