John L. Wright

John L. Wright Jr. 69, of Mediapolis, died Wednesday, September 28, 2005 after a short illness. Memorial Services will be held at 9:30 Saturday, October 1st at The United Methodist Church of Mediapolis. The Cremation Society of Eastern-Western-Central Iowa is assisting with the arrangements. Surviving in addition to his wife Maggie are a son John W.(wife Lynn) of Tiffin, IA, daughter Patti Harris of Sun City, CA, his mother Ollie Wright of Wapello, IA, two sisters Pearl Allen of Oakville, IA and Shirley Lesnet of Sperry , IA, and two grandaughters Desiree Lynn Wright and Sierra Marie Wright, both of Tiffin, IA. John was born February 14, 1936, the son of John L. Sr. and Ollie(Harvey)Wright. He married Margaret Sample on June 19, 1960 in San Bernardino, CA. John worked as an Aircraft Quality Assurance Inspector for the United States Navy for 20 years. He served during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After retiring from the Navy in 1973, John spent the next 23 years working in shipping, receiving, and trafficking for Sub Sea Systems, Transworld Communications and Structron Tools. John was a Harley Davidson enthusiast and was a member of HOG(Harley Owners Group). He was an avid reader, artist and model rocket builder and loved watching Sci-Fi and Western movies. John also was a member of 24/7 and the First United Methodist Church of Mediapolis. A memorial fund has been established with the First United Methodist Church of Mediapolis.
