Galen G. Shultz , 78, a resident of Liebe Care Center, 108 South High, Greene, IA died October 25, 2005 following a lengthy illness. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, November 3, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Greene, IA. Galen was born January 30, 1927 in Greene, IA, the son of Galen and Eshter Shultz. He attended school in Greene. He married Hazel LaVonne Truex on August 17, 1944. Galen farmed near Dougherty, IA and worked at Echleberger Implement of Greene where he retired. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Greene and Dan’s Coffee Club. Galen was a veteran of the U.S. Army having proudly served from June 1945 to October 1946. Galen is survived by two daughters Carolyn (Dave) Goodsell of Denver, IA and Kathy (Ron) Herman of Greene, IA. Also surviving are a brother Donald Shultz of Mason City, IA and a sister Lois Adams of Marble Rock, IA. Galen had four grandchildren: Jacqueline and Alan Goodsell of Denver, IA, Chad (Heidi) Herman of Waverly, IA and Andres Herman and special friend Nikki and one great-grandson Alexandrek of The Colony, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife Hazel LaVonne, his parents Galen and Esther(Uker) Shultz, a sister Donna Neal and one grandson Derek Herman.
