Gloria J. Soards

Gloria J. Soards, 75, of Manchester, died at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Sunday, November 13, 2005, after a long illness. Services will be held at a later date. Burial: Hammonton, NJ. Survivors include three sons, Roy and John, both of Portland, OR,; and Robert of Des Moines; a daughter, Sandra Koons of Camden, ME; four sisters, Rose Arico, Helen Eshem, Diana Hanselman, and Amelia Todora; four brothers, Medio DeMarco, Anthony DeMarco, Louis DeMarco, and Philip DeMarco; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother Rocco DeMarco and a sister Carmella Graves. Gloria was born March 26, 1930 in Hammonton, NJ to Emedio and Julia DeMarco. She was a Special Ed Para Professional for West Delaware Schools for over 27 years, and volunteered with the Special Olympics for over 20 years. Gloria was very active in the Catholic church in Sumner and Manchester as well as being involved in the Catholic Daughters and CCD. Her favorite pastimes were walking and reading. The family would like to thank all the West Delaware employees who gave Gloria so much support during her cancer treatments. Memorials may be given to Special Olympics. The Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa is in charge of arrangements.
