James Clement Milota

James Clement Milota, 75, of Rudd, Iowa died Friday, June 17, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 23, 2005 at the Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church located at 302 5th Street SE Mason City, Iowa with Father Harry Koelker officiating and Father Thomas Milota concelebrating. Inurnment will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been made by the Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa. Survivors include his wife Kathryn Milota of Rudd; five stepchildren Michael (Sharon) Burke of Mason City, Dan (Carla) Burke of Mason City, Julie (Leroy) Jansen of Rudd, James (Ruby) Burke of Atascadero, CA, and David (Amy) Burke of Minneapolis, MN; plus one brother Leo (Betty) Milota of Bensenville, IL. Survivors also include step grandchildren Joshua and Andrew Burke, Kathryn and Joseph Burke, Tyler, Anthony and Sara Jansen, Jessica Burke, Heather, Kate, Jessica and Jon Wintermeyer, and Maya and Noah Burke. James Clement Milota was born on September 14, 1929 to James and Marie (Burian) Milota in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He married Kathryn Ann Burke on July 11, 1980 in Mason City, Iowa. His parents and one step granddaughter Kelli Burke preceded him in death. James graduated from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa with a Bachelors Degree in education and from Saint Thomas Seminary in Denver, Colorado. James was a priest for twenty-four years and a high school teacher for thirty years before his retirement. He was a member of the Saint Joseph’s Catholic Parish of Mason City, Iowa. James enjoyed traveling, writing, political involvement for social justice, and birding in Washington, Texas, California, and Iowa.
