Hazel LaVonne Shultz, 77 of 609 N. 2nd Street in Greene, Iowa died Thursday morning, June 30 at Mason City Hospice following a short illness. A memorial service will be held on Thursday July 14, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Greene, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family. Hazel is survived by her husband Galen Schultz Jr., a resident of Liebe Care Center in Greene, Iowa. Two daughters, Kathy Herman and husband Ronald of Greene, Iowa and Carolyn Goodsell and husband David of Denver, Iowa, also survive Hazel. Also surviving are a brother, Charles Truex and wife Evelyn of Greene, Iowa, a sister, Vada Beguelin and husband Howard of Estacada, Oregon, four grandchildren and one great grandson. Her parents, a grandson Derek, and two brothers, Carl and Glenn Truex, preceded Hazel in death. Hazel was born July 25, 1927 in Bristow, Iowa, the daughter of William and Vera Pearl (Miller) Truex. She graduated from Greene High School. Hazel enjoyed gardening, and crocheting. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Greene, Iowa.
