John M. Henry

John M. “Jack” Henry, 71 of 13252 Valley Avenue, Cresco died Friday evening at Cresco Care Center following a brief illness. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 5 at 11:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Parish St. Joseph Worship Center with Rev. Frank Charipar officiating. Friends may call at the church after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date. John is survived by six children, three sons, James J. Henry (Nancy Wilson ), Mark A. Henry and Philip M. Henry (Diane Kuhn ) all of Cresco and three daughters, Christine K. Vokaty (Ed) of Protivin, Lisa J. Hadacek (Charles) of Fort Atkinson and Jacqueline M. Lickteig (Donald) of Cresco. He is survived by a brother Gaylord Henry & Merle Henry of Calif. and a Colleen Copper of Fort Dodge, Iowa John had 15 grandchildren. John was born August 20, 1933 on the family farm in Howard County, the son of John W. and Margurite (Norton) Henry. He worked as truck driver for the oil industry for many years most recently with Hovden Oil in Ridgeway. John served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He was a member of VFW #4561 in Cresco. He was a member of Notre Dame Parish Church. John enjoyed collecting all kinds of things and loved to attend the races in all of Northeast Iowa. He also participated in slow pitch softball for many years. He truly enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and watching them in their various sports and activities.. He was a kind man that cared deeply for those he loved. He was preceded in death by 3 infant siblings, his parents, one grandchild and two sisters Rosemarie McCulloch and Sister Patricia Henry BVM..
