Kent Jerome Woods

Kent Jerome Woods, 63, of Lisbon went to be with the Lord on Friday February 11, 2005 in Rochester, MN after a couragous battle with leukemia. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday February 15 at 10:00 A.M. at St. John''s Catholic Church in Mt Vernon by Rev. Ken Gehling. The Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa is handling the arrangements. Surviving Kent are his wife, Carmen Woods, four sons; Shane (Renee) Woods of Anamosa, Jason (Chris) Woods of Monona, Travis (Michelle) Woods of Minniapolis, MN, and Kevin Armstrong of Springville, two daughters; Wendy Finn of Cedar Rapids and Kristina (Dwight Rogers) Akers of North Liberty. Also surviving are two brothers; Lee (Pat Harrington) Woods of Page, AZ and Rocky (Nikki) Woods of Cedar Rapids, two sisters; Kay (Bob) Hamilton of Cedar Rapids and Ragiena (Albion) Bennett of Lisbon, IA. Eleven grandchildren; Logan, Trey, Austin, Joshua, Cale, and Avery Woods, Danielle and Raelynn Finn, Courtney Armstrong, Michael Akers, and Alyssa Rogers. Mother-in-law Lois Stolte of Mechanicsville also survive Kent. He is preceeded in death by his parents and nieces Sara and Christine and a nephew Steve. Kent was born July 30, 1941 in Iowa City to Sylvester and Isabella (Hagen) Woods. He was one of the first graduating classes of Washington High School in Cedar Rapids. He served four years in the Navy as a corpsman at Camp Pendleton, CA. He was a professional driver for Georgia-Pacific in Monticello for 27 years and later retired from Roberts Dairy as a driver. He enjoyed golfing, taking trips, and fishing with special friends Bob Lake and "Buddy" Nasser. He also enjoyed camping and walks around his acreage with family and friends. He married Penny Willman in 1963 and was divorced. He later was married to Carmen Stolte on June 28, 1986 in Stone City. Kent was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by family and friends and his "lap dog" Minnie his Cocker Spaniel. A memorial fund has been established.
