Virginia Marie McKillip

Virginia Marie McKillip: 67, of 304 Commerce Street, Stockton, Iowa died Wednesday afternoon, October 13 at Genesis Medical Center in Davenport, Iowa after a short illness. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 17 at Bloomington-Muscatine Friends Church with Pastor Paul Bryan officiating. Inurnment will be in the Island cemetery in Fruitland, Iowa at a later date. Virginia was born September 27, 1937, the daughter of Joseph and Delia (Weesh-Koob) Halfaday in Odanah, Wisconsin on the Bad River Reservation in the Chippewa Tribe. She relocated to the Quad Cities area when she was 13 years old. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1956. She married Harlan McKillip on July 2, 1977 in Wilton, Iowa. Virginia served her country in United States Army and had worked at Hon Industries for a number of years as a private secretary before she stayed at home to care for her children and grandchildren. Virginia''s children and grandchildren were number one in her life. She dearly loved to laugh, garden, bake and fish. Her preparation of fish was simply delicious. Virginia is survived by her husband, Harlan McKillip of Stockton, three daughters, Cindy McCormick of Phillips, Wisconsin, Janet McBride of Stockton, Iowa and Jaynie Geiger and husband Chuck of Davenport, Iowa, 4 step-sons and 1 step-daughter, sisters Wilma Kelley of Michigan, Laura Phillips of California, Olvina Santiago and Sandra Chappelle both of Wisconsin, brothers, Barney Halfaday, and Bernard Meissner both of Michigan, a fosterbrother, David Johnson of Arizona, her fostermother Dorothy (Johnson) Svetlicic and husband Gus of Arizona, 21 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Leo Joseph McKillip, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, 1 fostersister and her parents. Virginia will be deeply missed by all who knew her and loved her.
