Donald D. Cavanaugh, 85, Waterloo IA, died Saturday October 2, 2004 at Quibell''s Boarding Ministries, 613 Keystone St. in Waterloo after a long illness. The body will be cremated. A Celebration of Life to be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. October 7 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church (St. Mary''s site) in Waterloo where friends may call after 9:30 A.M. Reverend Dennis Colter will officiate. Survivors include three daughters: Donna Cavanaugh of Waterloo, Linda Cavanaugh of Madison, WI, and Deborah (Uwe) Kugler of Deerfield, FL. There are 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister-in-law Bernice Cavanaugh, many nieces and nephews, family friends Rita Kelly and Bill and Nita Quibell. Donald was born October 17, 1918 in Buckingham, IA to William and Helena (Kelly) Cavanaugh. He married Betty Jane Rogers on October 11, 1938 in Waterloo. He was a veteran of WWII. He was employed by Rath Packing Company until retirement in 1984. He enjoyed spending time ballroom and square dancing, and playing cards. Donald is preceded in death by his wife Betty, his parents, two sisters, and three brothers. A Memorial Fund has been established. The Cremation Society of Eastern-Central-Western Iowa is in charge of the arrangements.
