Roger Sherman Powers: 66, 912 Ridgewood Drive in Decorah, Iowa died Monday morning, October 20, at his home following a long illness. Roger is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary and his four children, a daughter, Kathy Plumb and husband Michael of Decorah, three sons, Mike Powers and Paul Powers and both of Decorah and Paul Worzella and wife Kristy of Edinburgh, Indiana and five grandchildren, Danielle and Noah Plumb, Skylena and Brandan Powers and Logan Worzella. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jack Powers and several aunts and uncles. Roger was born February 19, 1937 in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Richard and Catherine (Crane) Powers. A longtime resident of Rockford, IL, Roger and Mary moved to Decorah three years ago to be closer to their children. Roger graduated from West High School in Rockford. He worked as a machinist for Barber Colman Company for 32 years. He was a member of St. Patrick’s and Holy Family Catholic Church in Rockford. He also was a veteran serving in the Air Force. Roger dearly loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them especially his grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made in Roger’s memory to the National Cancer Foundation, the National Kidney Foundation or the Diabetes Association of America.
