Obituary for Dennis L. Kohlmeyer

Dennis L. Kohlmeyer, 59, of rural Fayette, died Friday November 28, 2003 at West Union of a sudden illness. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday December 2, 2003 at 10:30 am at the Bethel Presbyterian Church in West Union. The Cremations Society of Eastern Iowa in charge of the arrangements. Surviving Dennis is his wife, Karen Kohlmeyer, a son Brad (LuAnn) Kohlmeyer of Lisle, IL, a daughter Denise (Dale) Johnson of Gurnee, IL, a brother LeRoy (Betty) Kohlmeyer of Hawkeye, three sisters Betty (Harvey) Ungerer of Hawkeye, Linda Ahrenholz of Janesville, and Gertie Patton of Hiawatha. Also surviving is Dennis’s mother Mabel Kohlmeyer of Janesville, IA His father, Lester Kohlmeyer, preceded him in death. Dennis was born June 1, 1944 in Hawkeye, IA to Lester and Mabel (Aegeter) Kohlmeyer. He was an Operating Engineer for International Union of Operating Engineers Local 49 for 27 years. He served 7 years with the United States Navy overseas. Dennis enjoyed cooking, playing cards, his dogs, and raising ostriches. A memorial fund has been established.
