Karen Kay Lopshire: 56, of 808 Lincoln Street in Ainsworth, died Thursday, May 01, 2003 in her home with her family at her side. A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, May 6, at 4:00 PM at the Ainsworth Community Church with Rev. Scott Nesbitt officiating. Inurnment will be in Oregon Township Cemetery. Karen is survived by her daughter Terri Hansen of Ainsworth and her children Cassandra “Cassie” Hansen and Zackery “Zack” Hansen both at home, two brothers, Bill Lopshire and wife Cyndie of Riverside and Jim Lopshire and wife Denise of Lancaster, California and her mother Phyllis Lopshire of Ainsworth. Karen was preceded in death by her father, Robert “Zack” on September 15, 1994; grandparents, Robert and Katherine McFarland, William and Alberta Lopshire; and numerous aunts and uncles. Karen was born September 10, 1946 at Washington County Hospital in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Robert “Zack” and Phyllis (McFarland) Lopshire. She graduated from Highland High School’s first graduating class in 1964. Karen recently became a member of the Ainsworth Community Church. She worked at Sheller-Globe, now Lear, in Iowa City for 33 years this April. She thoroughly loved her work and the people she worked with. Karen’s priorities in life were her family especially her daughter and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed camping trips with them. Karen also dearly loved animals often taking in strays and caring for them. Memorials may be made in Karen’s memory to the Iowa City Hospice, 1025 Wade St Iowa City, IA 52240 or Paws and More, 1004 ½ W. Madison Street, Washington, IA 52353.
