James Henry Mcclellan

James Henry McClellan: 75 of 200 Washington Street in Eldora, Iowa died Thursday morning, March 6 at Ellsworth Hospital in Iowa Falls from cardiac arrest. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Bayard, Iowa. The Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa is in charge of arrangements. Jim is survived by two sons, David McClellan of Eldora and Mark McClellan and wife Jane of Iowa Falls and three grandchildren, David’s daughter Jamie McClellan of Eldora and Mark and Jane’s sons Aaron and David McClellan of Iowa Falls, a brother Donald McClellan of Des Moines and a sister Charlotte Wallace of Stuart, Iowa. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Etsel McClellan and two sisters, Pauline McClellan and Hazel Marohn. Jim was born January 9, 1928 in Bayard, Iowa the son of Ralph and Eva (Marchant) McClellan. He served in US Navy from 1945-1947 and was stationed on the USS Appalachian, the Press Ship for both the air and underwater explosions of atomic weapons at Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Theater of Operations. Jim was also an avid reader of military history. Jim married Eileen Perkins on June 29, 1952. They later divorced in 1998. Jim moved to Eldora in 1955 and started his own business in 1966, McClellan Plumbing and Heating. He was a member of the Eldora Fire Department, Past President of the Eldora Jaycees, a former member of the Eldora City Council and a member of the American Legion.
