Obituary for Franklin D. Smith

Franklin David Smith, 67, of Protivin, IA died Saturday December 27, 2003 in his home after a long illness. Memorial Services will be held 2 pm Saturday January 3, 2004 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in New Hampton. The Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his wife Shayla Landis Smith of Protivin, a brother, and five sisters. Also surviving are many stepchildren and step-grandchildren. His parents, nine brothers, and two sisters precede Frank in death. Frank was born November 2, 1936 on the Smith Family farm in rural Sumner to John and Mabel Smith. He was the youngest of eighteen children. He married Shayla Landis on March 10, 1997 in Colfax, WA. He worked many years as a truck driver and mechanic. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Oakland Cemetery in Manchester, IA.
