Kathryn Pauline Humphrey

Kathryn Pauline Humphrey, 83 of North English, died Tuesday evening, September 3, at English Valley Care Center in North English following a long illness. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday September 6 at North English United Methodist Church with Rev. Mary McAtee officiating. Burial will be in North English Cemetery. Friends may call at the church after 9:30 on Friday. Kathryn Pauline Smith Humphrey was born May 31 1919 in Linn County near Fontana, Kansas, the daughter of Warren A. Smith and Alta Lee Smith. She graduated from Parker High School in 1937. She was married to Lloyd Humphrey August 31, 1940 in Deerfield, Kansas. They came to Iowa in September of 1940 and lived in the community of North English farming a few years. Pauline worked in the Farmers Savings Bank for 34 ½ years retiring in 1983. She was a charter member of the VFW Auxiliary in North English. She became a resident of the English Valley Care Center in North English two years ago. She lived 83 years, 3 months and 3 days. Pauline is survived by a sister Edith Walker of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Humphrey, two brothers Lee and Myron Smith and two sisters, Eva and Grace Smith. Arrangements are with the Cremation Society of Eastern Iowa.
