Lorna Blohn

Lorna (Boseck) Blohn, 90, of the Western Home Communities, Cedar Falls, Iowa passed away peacefully on Friday, May 3, 2024.

Robert and Thelma Boseck welcomed Lorna June into the world on June 8, 1933. Lorna, with her parents and 5 siblings, lived in Griswold, Iowa on the family acreage. As a teenager Lorna worked as a soda jerk at the local Candy Kitchen in Griswold. Lorna graduated from Griswold High School in May of 1951.

She married Garnet Bryce Blohn in her parents living room on November 8, 1954. In their 58 years of marriage they welcomed 3 sons, David Wayne Blohn, Edward Louis Blohn, and Alan Joseph Blohn into the family. The family moved to Cedar Falls and Lorna stayed home with her children. After her kids were mostly grown up, Lorna worked at River Hills as a teachers aid. She loved her time there and enjoyed that for many years until she retired in 1991.

After retirement Garnet and Lorna went to Arizona in the winters and she loved to keep up with friends there. She loved her visits with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved to sing and will be remembered for her wonderful singing voice in church and in the Sweet Adelines.

She was preceded in death by her spouse, Garnet Blohn; parents; sisters, Zona (Boseck) Hully and Cheryl Boseck; brother, Bobby Boseck; sister-in-law, Shirley Boseck; brother-in-law, Don Hully; and two daughters-in-law, Sandy Blohn and Kristin Blohn.

Her survivors include sons, David Blohn of Rochester, Washington, Edward (Jennifer) Blohn of Ankeny, Iowa, and Alan Blohn of Palm Springs, California; grandchildren, Ben Blohn of Moore, Oklahoma, Chris (Mandy) of Waverly, Iowa, Brad Blohn of Moore, Oklahoma, Baron Blohn of Moore, Oklahoma, and Connor Bean of Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica; siblings, Kaye (Larry) Chase of Indianola, Iowa and Ron Boseck of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and her great-grandchildren, Garret, Marie, Freyja, and Esther.

A celebration of life will be held at Trinity Bible Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa on Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 4 to 7 pm. There will be a short memorial service at 4 and we invite everyone after to share memories and help us celebrate Lorna's life.

All donations can be directed to the family, Trinity Bible Church (Lorna Blohn Memorial Fund), and her grandson Connor’s missionary work in Costa Rica.
