Martin "Marty" Reid Heitt

Martin "Marty" Reid Heitt, 65, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on April 27, 2024. Marty was born on March 7, 1959, in Maquoketa, Iowa, to the late James Dale Heitt and Mary Reid Heitt. He is survived by his mother, Mary Doyle, stepfather Peter Doyle, and brother Jeff Heitt. Marty is also survived by his sons Briton Heitt and Dr. Morgan Heitt, daughters-in-law Kay Heitt and Dr. Abby Heitt, and grandchildren Brielle, Robert, Kaden, and Khloe Heitt. He was preceded in death by his brother David Heitt.

Marty, a dedicated employee, spent over 30 years at Klinger Paint & Wallpaper, Inc., where he considered his colleagues as more than just coworkers but as an extended family. He took pride in his work and the relationships he built. A graduate of Washington High School, he was an excellent wrestler. Marty's hobbies included exercise, singing karaoke, playing softball, collecting vibrant and exotic running shoes, golfing with his work family, watching sports, listening to music, and driving nice cars. He had a passion for music, particularly enjoying artists like George Michael, Prince, and Foreigner. He had a fantastic sense of humor, always ready to share a good joke or add a “zinger.”

A celebration service in memory of Marty will be held at Klinger Paint & Wallpaper Inc. at 333 5th Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401, on Friday, May 3, 2024, at 1 pm. Attendees are encouraged to wear colorful attire representative of Marty’s personality and career in the paint industry. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. 

Marty will be remembered for his colorful, fun, and positive outlook on life, his love for music, his dedication to his family, and his faith in God during his battle with cancer. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
